THE SWALLOWS - IT AIN'T THE MEAT (1951)


Founded in Baltimore in 1946
"It Ain't The Meat (It's The Motion") was the raunchy B-Side of their third single. Band member Eddie Rich noted of the song "Although everybody liked it everywhere...you couldn't play it". 


SHIRLEY GUNTER AND THE QUEENS - OOP SHOOP (1954)


"Ooop Shoop" became the first record to be written and performed, with any degree of success, by a group of young black women, and inspired later groups such as "The Cookies" and "The Shirelles".
The Queens recorded  several more singles, and toured widely. However, their records had little commercial success, and the group split in late 1955.

Rhythm & Blues vocalist, attributed by many music scholars to be one of the founding fathers of Rock & Roll. He had fifteen Top 10 hits between 1946 and 1952.

CALVIN BOZE AND HIS ALL-STARS - SAFRONIA B (1950)

Calvin B. Boze Jr was an American trumpeter and bandleader best known for his recordings at the turn of the 1950s.
In May 1950 he released "Safronia B", it made No.9 on the Billboard R&B chart.
